Clear aligners, a cosmetic service, have become very popular over recent years, as they offer teeth aligning treatment, through the use of a clear, discreet appliance.
Invisalign are made from a see-through resin, that sit on the upper or lower dental arch, to move the teeth into a more ideal position. This can be for aesthetic reasons, but also to help relieve problems with talking or eating, and reduce the risk of teeth from being damaged, if they’re positioned at an awkward angle.
Robert J. Malone DDS offers a range of different braces, retainers and aligners, to help straighten your smile.
Why Choose Invisalign?
The discreet nature of Invisalign’s treatment is what usually draws teenagers and adults alike to the aligners.
It allows the user to receive all the benefits that other forms of teeth straightening appliances give, without the need to alter the aesthetics of the smile while having the treatment done.
This has caused an increase in adults receiving treatment, and boosted confidence in children who are having the procedure. Invisalign are removable, and therefore easy to clean. They require no special treatment and can be cleaned using your toothpaste and a toothbrush.
Traditional braces can be quite difficult to clean, as the wires and brackets makes it harder to enact brushing of the enamels. Invisalign users do not have this issue and can brush their teeth as normal. As well as these benefits unique to Invisalign, patients can also enjoy all the benefits of straighter teeth, that are the result of the alignment treatment.
The patient will have a straighter, more aesthetically pleasing smile, which can help boost confidence. Patients may find it easier to chew and talk, if there was an issue with that before, and may experience reduced tension upon the jaw.
How Do They Work?
Invisalign works by exerting constant pressure onto the teeth, over a long period of time, in order to move them into place.
Invisalign has no parts that can be adjusted, as traditional braces and retainers do, instead dentists can alter the pressure exerted by constantly replacing the Invisalign worn. You will wear each pair for 2 weeks and can expect to wear 12-48 different pairs for the duration of the treatment.
In a consultation appointment our dentist can show you how your teeth look now, and how they will look at the end of your treatment plan. Treatment usually takes between 12-18 months. Invisalign have to be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day and taken out when eating or drinking anything but water, otherwise you risk trapping bacteria in the aligner tray, which can cause detrimental damage.
You will have appointments with us every 3-4 months, to monitor how the treatment is going, and to give you your new sets of Invisalign.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Take Care Of My Aligners?
To take care of your aligners, clean them daily using a soft toothbrush and mild soap or a cleaner specifically designed for aligners. Rinse them thoroughly before putting them back in your mouth. Avoid using hot water, which can warp the plastic. It's also important to keep your teeth clean to prevent staining your aligners.
What Happens When I'm Done With Invisalign Treatment?
After completing Invisalign treatment, you'll typically be given retainers to wear. Retainers help maintain your new teeth alignment. Your dentist will provide specific instructions on how and when to wear them. Continuing regular dental check-ups is also important to monitor your oral health post-treatment.
Who Is Invisalign Treatment For?
Invisalign treatment is suitable for teenagers and adults who wish to correct their teeth alignment without traditional metal braces. It's effective for a range of mild to moderate orthodontic issues, including crowding, spacing, and certain bite irregularities. A consultation with an orthodontist can determine if Invisalign is the right choice for your specific needs.
